Computer Use |
| The Rogersville Public Library has five public computers for general use.
These computers access the Internet and have business application software. |
| Black & white printing from these computers is $.10 a
page. |
| All users must abide by the library’s computer use policy. |
| Internet access at the Rogersville Public Library allows the library to provide information
beyond the boundaries of the materials collection. All patrons have greater
accessibility to ideas and information through the Internet. The RPL does not
monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the
Internet.The library cannot be held responsible for Internet content. The Internet may contain controversial,
inaccurate or inappropriate material, but it is not the responsibility of The
RPL staff to restrict access to information. |
Public Library computers are to be used for:
- Reference and research
- Creation of documents
- Correspondence with others using web-based email

| Patrons must produce a valid Library card or drivers license and have no over due material
or outstanding fines on their record to use library computers. Visiting
non-residents may use Library computers with permission of Staff members.
Patrons are required to have a signed Internet use form on file. |
| Patrons use the Internet at their own discretion. Parents and guardian of minor children are
responsible for their children’s use of the Library’s Internet connection. Net
Nanny, Internet filtering software has been installed on library computers to
comply with Federal law. No software is completely reliable filtering
inappropriate material. The parent or guardian must sign an Internet Use
sheet - giving children under the age of 16 permission to access the Internet.
An adult must accompany children under the age of 12 during Internet use. Library staff
members are not responsible for children left unattended. Children left unattended
will be asked to leave the computer area. |
| Work sessions
are limited to 30 minutes unless no one is waiting to use the computer. Patrons
are asked to be aware of their time and be prepared to exit the workstation
when others are waiting. Reservations may be made to use a workstation by
calling the circulation desk at 247-0151. The patron reserving the workstation
must be the actual person using the workstation. No one may user another
person’s card to use the computer. |
RLP reserves the right to limit use of Library computers.
Unacceptable use includes but is not limited to:
- unauthorized copying of copyrighted material
- destruction or damage to equipment
- accessing material of an explicitly sexual nature
- installation of any software not approved and purchased by Library staff
- use of chatrooms
- instant messaging
- destruction or damage to library equipment
- downloading information to storage devise except those purchased from the Library
